My first experience seeing snow – Hakuba, Nagano! Seeing snow has been on my Bucket List for as long as I can remember. Living in Australia sort of limits our options in regards to being able to experience snow. This is because it generally only falls in certain areas on the East Coast. So when Russell and I were planning our trip to Japan this past March, we decided we would definitely include a town with snowfall on our itinerary. Searching for a town that was easily accessible from main cities, wasn’t easy. It looked pretty difficult finding public transport to and from any of the snow towns close by. But eventually, after a lot of research, we settled on staying…

Welcome back, friends! In part 1 of my ‘Things you need to know about Japan’ series, I talked about the Japan Train system. I listed and explained everything I know about the easiest and least stressful ways to navigate your way around the country. If you missed my Japan Train System post, you can check it out out here. From that post, we learnt that your best friend will be the Japan Rail Pass (only available for non-Japanese tourists/travellers visiting for less than 90 days). The JR Pass lets you travel using the Shinkansen Bullet Train, between almost every city in Japan. This option is a LOT cheaper than it would be if you were to purchase those tickets separately. But we’re getting off track. This isn’t a post…

Incase you’ve been living under a rock, there are seven different Disney Resorts in the world. Anaheim Disneyland Resort, Orlando Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Shanghai Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disney Resort, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Whether you’ve only been to one or all seven of them, chances are you would have had one of the best days of your life. Why? Well, because Disneyland is the Happiest Place in the World! Before my visit to Japan, I had only visited the Anaheim Disney Parks (Disneyland and California Adventure Park). Sure, I’ve been there at least a dozen times, but I hadn’t broadened my Disney horizons beyond California. The Tokyo Disneyland Parks are something that I am going to find difficult to explain.…

When Russell and I were researching our trip to Japan, trying to figure out the train and transport aspect was our main priority. Considering we would land in Japan at around 6am, then have to catch public transport from Haneda airport to our hotel in Yokohama (around 40 minutes south of Tokyo), we wanted to be fairly sure about what to expect. We did plenty of Googling, found the bus we needed to catch to Yokohama Station and knew we needed to then catch a train to our hotel. But we still weren’t prepared for how insanely busy the station was going to be! Nothing could have prepared us for that. Especially arriving during peak hour! There are people everywhere,…

If you’ve been following my blog or social media accounts (Instagram in particular), for quite a while now, you would know how much of a huge Harry Potter nerd I am. Russell and I named our cat after Hermione. Do I need to say more? If there was a real life Hogwarts – even one for Muggles! – I’d move in tomorrow. But since there isn’t a real life Hogwarts, and I have mo magical powers, us muggles have to stick with visiting the many theme parks around the world, dedicated to the wonderful world of Harry Potter. When Russell and I were planning our trip to Japan, Osaka was at the top of our list. For me at least,…
